Parental Guidance Suggested: Introducing... For Parents and Families
Parents and Families have always been a huge part of the college search and selection process. Even though we hope that students take control of their admission journey, we know that parents and families have their own questions and can provide much needed support to their students.
This is part of the reason why we started our Parental Guidance Suggested series for the USC Undergraduate Admission Blog. Hopefully, those subscribers who are parents or family members of prospective applicants have been able to take away some important information about helping their students through the college admission process.
It’s also why we launched a new section of our website just for parents and families. It provides some general information about USC. You’ll find more details on other parts of the undergraduate admission website. It also includes a “Road Map to Application and Admission” with tips and reminders.
Perhaps most importantly, we’ve provided links for parents and families to explore additional resources. For example, under Publications, we’ve offered Admission Term Glossaries in Spanish and Chinese. Visitors can learn more about academics—from majors and minors and progressive degrees to research and study abroad. We’ve also pared down information about the application process, financial aid and campus visits, so parents and families don’t have to go searching through our website.
Because we often know that parents and families have different questions about student life than their students, we’ve shared resources to departments such as the USC Career Center, Student Health, the Office of Accessibility Services and the Department of Public Safety.
We’ve tried to provide succinct information and a curated list of resources to explore more in depth with our new Parents and Families website page. Look out for more blog content and other opportunities for parents and families to connect with us in the future.
